How do I register the 25055 to a base station?

Follow these steps to register your 25055 to a compatible base station.

(Compatible RCA bases: 25210, 25212, 25250, 25252, 25255, 25260, 25270)

1. After the battery is installed (and charged for 16 hours), “Press REG to initiate registration” shows in the display

2. Press the REG soft key on the handset, and the handset’s display shows “Press Base Unit Page button Until Beep”

3. Press and hold the PAGE button on the base unit until a beep sound is heard. The base unit will enter registration mode and “Registration” shows in that display.

4. Please wait for up to 20-30 seconds. If the registration is successful, the handset shows “Registration complete” and emits a confirmation tone.

If the registration has failed the handset shows “Registration Failed!”, and then returns to the idle mode. You will hear an error tone. If this registration fails ensure the battery was fully charged (16 hours) and attempt again, keeping the handset in close proximity to the base station.

I received a “Registration Complete” message but my handset goes back to “Press REG to initiate registration”, what is wrong with it?

The base station has registered the handset but the handset has not paired to the base.

From the base:  Go to the Phone Settings menu, then the Remove Handset menu.  Select the Remove Handset option, and confirm.

Note: Follow de-registration or Remove Handset instructions in the 25055 manual when using the 25055, but be sure to refer to the base station’s manual for it’s de-registration menu processes.

I only have (x) handsets but one of my handsets is registered as a higher number’ or ‘My new handset never displayed the “Press REG to initiate registration” option and appears to already be registered (to another base station).

The 25055 handset software may be behaving like it’s registered to another base.  If, after registration, the handset’s identification number comes up out of sequence with the other handsets, says “out of range” immediately after registration, and/or says “unavailable” after registration the handset may be registered to two different base stations simultaneously.  Normally it is possible to overwrite a previous registration using the handset’s menu options

Note: If there was some other error, the phone will stay registered to another base instead of overwriting.

How do you place a caller on hold?

We recommend using the base station’s functions to hold and answer the lines even when using the headset.

In headset talk mode, press the hold button on the base unit (or press and hold Talk on/off button on the headset for 3 seconds)

“Line X ON HOLD” shows in the LCD display, and the line icon will flash. On the base, the line button indicator will flash also.

When the line is on hold, the hold alert tone will be emitted to both the

person on hold and to the user that initiated the hold.

Press the corresponding LINE button on base to release the hold and pick up the call again. (Or press the Talk On/off button on headset to pick up the call again.)

My headset is unresponsive with sound or lights flashing when registering or trying to first use.

The device should be charged for a full 16 hours before attempting to register or use the headset.

I recorded my Out Going Announcement but its not working.

To fully enable the OGA you will need to both record and set parameters for the OGA.

The easiest way to do this is after the OGA has been recorded, you will press finish, and the message will play back for confirmation.  Then press the back button and scroll down to the next option which is Set OGA and press select.  From there you will be able to use the navigation keys to toggle the OGA on each line and when you want the OGA to be played.  Once the correct option is shown in the screen, press select and the confirmation tone will play confirming that you have set your OGA.

I have no Dial Tone

Ensure that the corded handset and phone line(s) are each plugged into the correct slots.  If there are any line splitters or if the phone line is being passed through another device (computer or fax machine etc) ensure that if those devices are in use that they aren’t blocking the line from use.

I am only receiving one line of service on my 25255

Confirm with your telephone service provider that you are enabled for 2-line service.  If there are any line splitters or if the phone line is being passed through another device (computer or fax machine etc) we need to ensure that if those devices are in use that they aren’t blocking the line from use.

25825

I received a “No PBX” or “Net link” error

This message indicates there is a communication problem between this base station and the 25801 PBX.  Please ensure that all cables are connected properly in the Ethernet infrastructure between the two devices, with the Ethernet cable connecting the phone and the PBX through the WAN port.  If multiple phones are displaying this error, there may be something wrong with your Ethernet switch or infrastructure.

We aren’t receiving voicemails.

The system is designed to have general delivery mailbox which is shared among all users and a personal mailbox for each extension, called a Personal Mailbox.

General Delivery Mailbox: With this option activated all calls after the ring delay will go to the shared answering machine for the system accessible by all users. To use the GDM first you must have the auto attendant turned off. You can turn on and set the OGA for the General Delivery Mailbox in the Auto Attendant Option menu.  Once the GDM is on, listening to those messages requires setting a base phone to check that mailbox.  This can be set in Voicemail Choice, which is in the Phone Settings menu.

Personal Mailbox: With this option activated all calls will go to the answering machine only after being routed through the auto attendant. The auto attendant must be turned on for each base station to have its own voicemail.

25801

I received a “No PBX” or “Net link” error

This message indicates there is a communication problem between this base station and the 25801 PBX.  Please ensure that all cables are connected properly in the Ethernet infrastructure between the two devices, with the Ethernet cable connecting the phone and the PBX through the WAN port.  If multiple phones are displaying this error, there may be something wrong with your Ethernet switch or infrastructure.

How do I install the router?

Set up of the 25801 router is simple and does not require special training or knowledge.  The router will need at one analog phone cord for each phone number plugged directly into the front of the router.  Cords that carry multiple phone numbers should not be plugged into the router as the numbers may not come through the system correctly.

Alongside the front of the router you will find 8 phone jacks to plug in your incoming phone lines as well as an Ethernet port.  Run an Ethernet cable from this port to your office Ethernet switch.  Once this connection is established, the router will automatically detect and communicate with all other 25825 base phones it can find on the network.

H5801

How do I register the H5801 to the 25825?

To begin registering the H5801 to the 25825, press the center button directly beneath where it says “REG” on the screen of the cordless phone.  The screen will then say “Registering…”

If the H5801 and 25825 successfully pair, the cordless phone will then request a PIN number.  The default PIN number is 1590

If the H5801 says “Out of Range” or otherwise does not have the “REG” option but is not registered, press menu and use your volume up and down navigation key to scroll to Registration, then press the center button directly beneath where it says “REG” and the registration will begin.

I received a “Registration Complete” message but my 25260 goes back to “Press REG to initiate registration”, what is wrong with it?

Try de-registering the 25260 and re-registering it.  On the Main/Wired unit:  Go to the Phone Settings menu, then the Remove Handset menu.  Select the Remove Handset option, and confirm.  This should return the EXT/WIRELESS 25260 to the “Press REG to initiate registration” screen.  From here you should be able to register the phone normally.
